![]() Nine million people visited Northumberland last year, attracted by the wonderful coast and countryside, its vibrant history and heritage along with the unspoilt nature. Northumberland is officially the most tranquil county in England.
See Treasure Trails around Northumberland. The official website www.visitnorthumberland.com will provide a wealth of information about this unique county. Our work with North East Trails has led us to tour Northumberland extensively. We have picked two of our favourite places although the list could have went on and on. Alnwick Country Life Magazine judged Alnwick as England's best place to live in a survey. It said it won 'by a country mile'. Home of Alnwick Castle Gardens and near to beaches and hills there are many things to attract people from far and wide. All visitors are charmed by the town and love to walk its cobbled streets and lanes. Our two Treasure Trails in Alnwick provide a great way to explore hidden parts of the town. The Wicked Wizard of Alnwick Murder Mystery alludes to that fabled seat of learning for wizards. While it is one of our shorter Trails it packs in a lot of interest. One happy Trailer commented. 'Recently my family and I purchased the Alnwick Murder Mystery trail and it was incredibly enjoyable! We had a lot of fun deciphering the clues and running across the town. It was exciting and thrilling and we can't thank you enough for such a brilliant afternoon.' Many thanks, Rebecca Challis, Cambridgeshire The Alnwick Treasure Hunt starts inside Barter Books. Of course the problem is that once you are inside you will struggle to get out. Warkworth While not being the size of Alnwick it rivals it for charm. It is home to one of Northumberland's many scenic castles. Two of our Trails are set here. The Warkworth Murder Mystery provides an interesting adventure around the village. The Coastal Driving Trail has the first five clues set in Warkworth. A comment we received on this Trail was. 'Absolutely brilliant! Simple, informative and fun. We had a fantastic day out. The quality of the Treasure Trails and the excellent clues (some easy, some hard, word plays, cryptical messages, signs etc) is just wonderful. As a family we loved it. Thanks guys and girls...excellent job! We have been telling all our friends about it. No doubt some of them will be joining in soon!' Alastair Johnstone, Sunderland |
